She's the reincration of Harry's mother. She is part Elf and part 'Veela', born into a 'Potter' family (a cousin several times removed from Harry but having the last name 'Potter') but orphaned at 5 years of age. Her 'parents' were murdered by rogue Death Eaters.
She was taken in/raised by Snape who some how sensed she was 'Lily Reincarnated' while he was searching for a way to bring Lily back to life. (And at the urging of Albus Dumbledore because Albus felt Snape needed someone to care for). It's however kept a secret that Mary is being raised by Snape.
She is a year below Harry, and was sorted into Slytherin because of being raised by Snape. But once she started school, she actually live with the Crouch family. Harry saw her when he went to the Slytherin common room his second year. After which he hunted her town because he was entralled by her. They are now secretly best friends, because Harry can sense that it's his mother reincarnated but can't put it into words.
She dated Cedric when she was 13, but broke up before the ball at Mad Eye's urging. She knew it was really Barty Crouch Jr. because she had been living with them. So she began dating Barty Crouch Jr. secretly. She knew all about the polyjuice potion stuff. When Barty Jr. was discovered she was sent to live with the Malfoys.
In her 4th year she started dating Draco. Lucius even arranged for her to marry his son in the future. Voldemort was staying with the Malfoys and secretly made her a Death Eater to be his 'right hand' (like Mara Jade was to the Emperor). She never joined the Inquisitorial squad because she hated Umbridge, and because she was still secretly friends with Harry she was the only Slytherin in Dumbledore's Army. She however used polyjuice and made herself look like a Hufflepuff to attend. Her patronus is a silver doe because of her being the reincarnation of Lily.
In her 5th year, she was assigned to watch out for Draco by Voldemort. But they broke up because he was so emo. She was made a Prefect. The engagement was off but she's still respected by the Malfoy family.
In her 6th year. At the battle for hogwarts she was with the death eaters (but no one knew she was there, because she was under her own invisibility cloak, because she was the 'secret' death eater for Voldemort). From her 'elven' side she has special magic and could see all the ghost around Harry in the forset, and when they vanished it seemed odd so she looked in the area later and found the ring. She also saved Snape in the shreaking Shack due her 'elven magic'. After the battle she nursed him back to health and has returned to living with him.
In her 7th year, she was made Head Girl, and no one knows she was ever a Death Eater. Because of all the 'care' she showed while helping Snape recover from Nagini's wounds (and that she's older now) he no longer sees her as a 'daughter' but they are secretly lovers.
Once she finishes school, she leaves England with Snape and they get an apartment in New York. Where she is now a famous preformer on Broadway. Snape and her are totally in love and are making plans to have a child soon. Snape told her all about his short love affair with Sirius Black, but he totally loves Mary (because she's Lily reincarnated). Sometimes they do use the ring for a threesome with Snape, Sirius and Mary. She's still friends with Harry and is actually Albus Severus's God mother. She's also friends with Draco and the God Mother to his son Scorpius as well.
